Madison Street Salvage: Part-time employee Two openings available
Job Objective: Assist the staff and volunteers of Madison Street Salvage (MSS) with the day to day operations of the shop. The primary role of this part time position is to coordinate and pick up donations and purchased items, unload them and get them ready for sale.
Other Job Responsibilities:
Clearly communicate with donors about what donations are accepted and provide an excellent donor experience during pick-ups.
Conduct the safe operation of Madison Street Salvage vehicles for pick-ups and donations. Communicate any vehicle maintenance needs to full time staff.
Work with staff and volunteers to ensure they provide exceptional customer experience and follow all regulations as required by Franklin Heritage, Inc.
Coordinate and manage salvage donations, pick-ups, and tax receipts. Give donation information to the Director of Development.
Handle money in a responsible manner, ensuring safe practices and accounting procedures.
Ensure that all antiques and architectural salvage are properly cleaned and ready for the showroom floor.
Cross-train with other MSS staff to ensure coverage of the shop during business hours.
Train and utilize volunteers to provide exceptional customer service and work on projects as needed.
Qualifications:
Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills to ensure operations with donors and employees are done in an efficient and safe manner.
Relevant training and/or experience in retail sales and knowledge of architectural salvage and antiques is preferable.
Ability to drive a box truck and van is required.
Ability to lift and move 50-75 pounds, mainly furniture and boxes of donated items.
Must have excellent customer service skills.
Available to work 2-3 days per week around normal store hours (10 a.m. – 5 p.m.). Approximately 20 hours per week.
Must be able to work a minimum of two weekend days per month.
Outreach
Build relationships with local retailers, especially antique and vintage shops.
Assist MSS staff with planning events and workshops.
Coordinate with staff on marketing materials, online inventory, and social media posts as needed.
Compensation:
$17 / hour
Candidates must pass a limited criminal history check prior to start of employment.
