Why post-and-lintel?
The post-and-lintel is one of the basic architectural forms, and hearkens to FHI’s beginnings as an organization to preserve the historic architecture of Franklin, Indiana. It is a three-part structure: two vertical posts, supporting a horizontal lintel, representing the three aspects of FHI’s operations in Madison Street Salvage, The Historic Artcraft Theatre and the overall preservation arm of Franklin Heritage, Inc. itself. |
How is the Post-and-Lintel Society Different?FHI cannot exist without its many donors, sponsors, and members. These modes of giving are incredibly important, but aren't able to support the future growth of the organization as FHI envisions it.
Sponsorships help support the ongoing programming at The Historic Artcraft Theatre (as well as events like the home and garden tours). These fund are meant solely to underwrite operational costs such as labor, film booking, etc. Not future operations. Memberships and donations bring in significant income, but can vary annually based on a number of external economic factors. This income has allowed us to cover costs such as those caused by pandemics, tornadoes, and unexpected maintenance - but they're not enough for the future. The Historic Artcraft Theatre is an incredible resource for drawing interest, visitors, and income, but FHI is more than a theatre. Did you know memberships and sponsorships are mostly ties to The Artcraft operations. The Post-and-Lintel Society has been created to support the operations of FHI as a whole, particularly in its mission of historic preservation. |
