Franklin Heritage Teen Council

In 2011, Franklin Heritage, Inc. created what is known as the Franklin Heritage Teen Council, a committee composed entirely of middle and high school-aged volunteers.  Artcraft teen committee members, or A-Teens as they are called, are able to spend their weekend volunteering with their adult counterparts, developing skills such as volunteer management and customer service relations.

Teen volunteers also fundraise, allocate funds, frame their own mission and vision statements, and then follow through with managing individual projects and goals. The opportunities presented to these teens are small-scale versions of some of the same business that comes across the desk of the Artcraft Theatre.

The A-teens largest project to date has been "Cartoons for Cans." With this event, the A-Teens have revived a former Artcraft holiday tradition.  On the first Saturday in November, and third Saturday in April each year, patrons who bring a canned good donation can watch an hour of classic Looney Tunes cartoons on the big screen.  All canned goods are donated to the local Inter-Church Food Pantry!

Annual A-Teen Scholarship

Picture
Franklin Heritage, Inc. was proud to announce the first annual ‘A-Teen Scholarship’ in 2013.  The $500 scholarship is awarded to a dedicated teen volunteer that is a senior in high school.  The award recipient is decided on by the Franklin Heritage, Inc. Volunteer Committee and approved by the Franklin Heritage, Inc. Board of Directors.  Preference is given to those teens who have worked fifty volunteer hours or more.

In 2013 we were pleased to announce our first recipient, Dylan Radford!  Dylan graduated from Franklin Community High School
